k2kUSA is an advocacy campaign that empowers kids to connect with and advocate for each other. The goal is to ensure a fair chance in life for every kid in America. Central to fairness for all kids is ending the childhood poverty crisis, which affects one in six kids in the United States.
k2kUSA is guided by the k2kUSA Council, an advisory group that educates the public and advocates for change with national, state, and local officials. Check back next week when we will be announcing the new Council.
k2kUSA is a project of Save the Children’s U.S. programs, the leading organization in America working to reverse the effects of childhood poverty through early childhood education, literacy, physical activity and nutrition, and disaster relief programs, serving more than 18,000 children at over 150 locations in 13 states.
Across all Save the Children’s U.S. Programs locations, more than 60 percent of children showed major improvement after participating in literacy programs and the percentage of children reading at or above grade level nearly doubled from the start of the school year to the end.
The campaign is chaired by Mark Kennedy Shriver, Managing Director of Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and Chair of the National Commission on Children and Disasters.
